New Zealand Majesty

2010 August 16
by Mollie

It’s been another few days, and I’ve had many more wonderful New Zealand experiences! From skiing with rear-entry rental boots from 1997 to taking my first mountain bike ride through ACTUAL mountain terrain to observing some serious majesty, life is good. Enjoy the photos!

Me, attempting to be artistic with the fence outside our cabin at Lambrook Farms—a working sheep farm

Giving majesty a hug

Me, being artistic again on our drive from Roundhill ski hill

Snapping some quality shots

The majesty that is Mt. Cook

The boys, snapping some shots of Mt. Cook at sunset

Colorful beanies and Mt. Cook

Here's our motley crew in borrowed gum boots at Lambrook. Meanwhile, the sheep feast behind us!

Biking over the canal in Twizel

This is the mountain bike I rented for a day. I named her Shirley. To Sarah, my road bike at home—no one can top you...especially not Shirley!

Look—I made friends on my bike ride!

It's backpacking and biking put together. I call it: EXTREME BIKEPACKING!

The most amazing thing: turning around on my bike ride, only to realize those hills covered in clouds I'd seen were actually mountains! You can see them peeking through the clouds!

awesome shots! Molly….used to live in Mts at Lake Tahoe…I miss those peaks every day. I also lived in Denver years ago and have family in Aspen and used to have a sister whose husband pretty much built Vail. First time I went there driving from Denver, I said, ‘oh, it’s foggy up here’…to which my sister said, ‘It’s clouds, Jayne’…”oh”. Safe travels. Somewhere over there I have relatives I met through genealogy. If you bump into any Lorrigan’s tell them howdy for me. The boys in their ‘attire’ complete with the boots aka Wellies….too cute. Look like tele tubbies unmasked.
Enjoy the ride and your adventure….

MOLLIE!!!!!!!!!!!! We miss you back here in Wisconsin :( But on a brighter note, you have embraced the use of the word Majesty EXACTLY the way, I believe, it was meant to be used! I hope you are having a blast on your travels and hope to see you again soon!
